The Police officer, Inspector Ahmed Twumasi accused of murdering 26-year-old Victoria Dapaah, popularly known as Maa Adwoa who’s reported to be his girlfriend at Adum in Kumasi has pleaded not guilty.
During the committal proceedings held at the Asokore Mampong district court, the state attorney presented a summary of the case, to which Inspector Twumasi responded by entering a plea of not guilty to the charge of murder.
The Police officer, Twumasi declined to answer any further questions without the presence of his lawyer but expressed his intention to call witnesses as necessary.
The state attorney during the committal proceedings presented evidence, including the alleged murder weapon, a service pistol, and CCTV footage capturing the scene, outlining Twumasi’s purported involvement in the crime.
The father of the deceased, Bruce Dapaah placed his hope in the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for justice to prevail.
Family members present at the court made another attempt to physically attack Twumasi, resulting in chaos where some threw stones at the police vehicle as the suspect was being whisked away from the court premises.
The Asokore Mampong district court has committed the suspect to stand trial at the high court, starting on July 13, 2023.
Earlier, the Police Inspector confessed that he killed Victoria because she owes him GH¢5,000 while in they were in a relationship.

Popular Kumawood actor and business owner Kwadwo Nkansah, widely known as Lil Win, has recently revealed that he battled a health condition that left him immobile for five years.
Lil Win who made an appearance on United Showbiz, shared that the ailment, was never diagnosed but it affected his legs, rendering him unable to walk.
According to the “Sure Banker” actor, the condition began after he helped dig a well in his village.
“I went to dig a well and that was it. Each day, I was given about 15 to 20 injections at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi,” he narrated. Lil Win also mentioned that it occurred before his acting career took off and expressed deep gratitude for the support and financial sacrifices made by his mother to ensure his recovery.
“My mum did not give up on me. My gift to her inspired many of my friends and the youth to do similar things for their parents,” he shared
The actor said his mother’s unwavering support during his challenging time has made him determined to make any necessary sacrifices, including giving her his house, to ensure her happiness and prevent her from suffering.
I think it’s an individual preference to gift someone something and publicise it. When I bought my first house, I gifted it to my mother. She took very good care of me and has suffered because of my illness,” Lil Win added.

A lover has allegedly killed his girlfriend at Trom a suburb of Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
The gruesome incident occurred Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Junction 5 in Trom. Community.
It is alleged that the victim was breaking-up with the suspect and hence relocated to the current location.
According to some co-tenants in the house when the incident occurred, the suspect visited the girlfriend at a time when a naming ceremony was ongoing.
The deceased girlfriend believed to be 23 years, went out and meet the suspect and brought her to her room.
It appears that the suspect killed the victim amid the noise of the naming ceremony therefore nobody heard the victim’s distress scream for help.
He allegedly struggled with her, pushed a piece of cloth into her mouth before slitting her throat.
He throw away the knife used to commit the gruesome act into a bush at the back of the house before sneaking out.
The suspect who is in his 30s reported himself to the police later in the evening while wearing red shirt with inscription “ Rest In Peace” at the back.
The body was retrieved from the cold blood by police after taking inventories of the crime scene and deposited the body at the morgue.
Police brought the suspect to the crime scene Sunday afternoon around 12noon to search for the knife used to commit the act but were unsuccessful.
Some angry youth in the community thronged the scene and threatened to attack the suspect.
As tension rose, police whisked the suspect into a taxi and left the scene.

Four people including a Senior Pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist Church have reportedly died after a tipper truck rammed into a Mercedes Benz at Ejisu-Achina in the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
Two others also sustained severe injuries in the fatal accident, which occurred on Tuesday, January 31 around 12:00 pm.
Three out of the four victims, according to eyewitness, died on the spot while the remaining one died while receiving treatment at hospital.
One Mr Edward Opoku, who rushed to the scene to help the rescue team, narrated the story.
“The Benz vehicle with registration number GW 7329-X with the four deceased and en route to Ejisu Achina collided with the tipper truck with registration number GR 9570-22 causing massive destruction to the Benz car.
“When we got to the scene, the four people, three men and a woman, were trapped in the seriously dented vehicle and it took a while for the officials of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to cut open the damaged car to rescue the accident victims.
“The SDA pastor we were told was on his way to Achina with his male friend when he lifted two of his church members on his way who were coming from a hospital but their car ended up colliding with the tipper truck.
“The tipper truck driver, who’s currently receiving treatment after sustaining injuries, said he failed break while negotiating a sharp curve on the Achina-Onwe road leading to the gory accident.”
